Harvard University Postdoctoral Position

Measurement of Atmospheric Gases using Airborne Laser SpectrometersA postdoctoral job opportunity is available for a recent or soon-to-be PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering or related concentrations. Our group measures trace gas concentrations in the atmosphere using advanced solid-state laser spectrometers engineered for aircraft applications, as part of a broad program of research aimed at understanding the processes that affect climatically important trace gases in the atmosphere. The position is particularly suited for a person with experience and skills involving solid state lasers and laser spectrometers, who wishes to transition from physics or engineering to a career in demanding sensor design, measurements in the atmosphere, and scientific application of those measurements to problems of societal interest.

The successful applicant will take part in development of new instrumentation, field work, data analysis, and scientific synthesis. Persons with strong scientific skills and motivation, but who do not have specifically relevant experience, should not hesitate to apply. We are engaged in interdisciplinary science and expect to train new personnel extensively for work in new areas.
Harvard University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
