PhD Students on the Job Market, 2008-2009
2008-2009 Robarts Library Carrels for TST ThD and PhD Students
To be eligible for a carrel, it is necessary that an applicant
• be a full-time ThD or PhD student at TST
• be in the comprehensive stage or later
• be making timely progress
• have no access to suitable study space at their own college.
Carrels will be assigned either as single occupancy or as shared. Students can apply for one or the other, though to be eligible for a shared carrel students need to find a potential carrel partner ahead of time and indicate this person’s name when they apply to TST. The ten available carrels will be designated as shared or single occupancy in proportion to the number of applications in each category (i.e., those who apply for a shared carrel each count as one, which means that the chances are greater for a shared carrel than for a single). Assignments in each category will be made by lottery.
If you would like to be considered for a carrel assignment, you must both fill out the online application on the Robarts Library website ( Library Service, For Students, Carrels and Lockers) and apply via email to the TST Student Services Office by August 29, 2008 (tstadv.degree@utoronto.ca). In your email, please provide the following information:
• name, telephone number and email address
• college, program, year of study and stage in program
• whether you are applying for single occupancy or shared, and, if shared, the name of your potential carrel partner (NOTE: your name should be indicated on your partner’s application as well)
• whether you have applied for study space at your college
